EDEKA retail store network is using KARAT IS, user count rises to 70
A retail store network operator CS EDEKA processes its economics and stocks in KARAT IS. The implementation work at recently opened wholesale store at Most – the distribution backbone of the whole network – is wrapping up. The KARAT IS user count in CS CEDEKA now totals almost 70 users.
"The whole solution is based on Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise database engine, which ensures the highest security and safety of stored data. In addition to basic KARAT modules, the solution consisted of a custom specialised module for automatic data exchange between KARAT IS and retail system installed at retail stores. This retail system is produced by a German software company and is used by the EDEKA Handelsgesellschaft Südbayern mbH company, German parent company of CS EDEKA, as well. As KARAT is an open system, effective interconnecting and flawless communication with a third-party system was possible," says Petra Vojáčková, the project manager. A fact that might be of interest is that the pre-implementation analysis was done in November 2001 and economical modules for about 40 users were ready for daily work as early as in late January 2002! In terms of time schedule, the project was extremely difficult one and its success can be attributed to professionalism of I.F.T. PROGRES experts and responsible persons at CS EDEKA.
CS EDEKA company has a long-time experience with I.F.T. PROGRES products. As this retail store network operator expanded, the former ISO information system, running under DOS, was replaced with more modern and powerful system KARAT, based on client/server architecture. CS EDEKA operates about 35 retail stores in the Czech Republic.
