KARAT Assistance handles user requests via a web interface
On March 1st, KARAT Assistance service operated by I.F.T. PROGRES, the system’s producer, has been launched. KARAT Assistance handles service support for the KARAT information system and is intended for all its users and sales partners.
KARAT Assistance ensures more effective submitting, receiving, and handling of various needs of KARAT IS users. The possible requests include service requests, requests for system extensions, operational troubleshooting, and information providing. Service requests can be submitted 24 hours a day, 7 days in a week. KARAT Assistance service is accessible via a web interface, electronic mail, voice phone, or a fax machine. The web interface simplifies the communication between the user and the service centre and saves administrative overhead as well. The technology used enables the users to track immediate state and progress of their requests, as well as reviewing their past requests.
The service support web pages are located at the same server as the company site. The pages are generated in ASP and VBScript; a COM object and XML is used to get the data out of a local application server connected to KARAT IS database powered by Sybase SQL Anywhere 7 at the time being. At the client side, the generated HTML pages use cookies and JavaScript. For the local SQL database access to be secure and firewall-protected, an application server is used; this approach is used for client custom solutions as well.
